Readers Question: What is a non direct recognition life insurance policy?”

Las Cruces is a city in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, United States. The city of Las Cruces bisects the fertile Mesilla Valley, the flood plain of the Rio Grande which extends from Hatch, New Mexico to the west side of El Paso, Texas. Las Cruces is also the home of New Mexico State University. Las Cruces is home to the annual Whole Enchilada Fiesta. The fiesta’s main attraction is the creation of a very large, flat red enchilada by local restaurant owner Roberto Estrada. The fiesta offers live music, rides, food vendors, and other attractions typical of fairs. The fiesta’s mascot, “TWEFie” (taken from the abbreviation of the fiesta’s name) is a large red chile pepper wearing a sombrero.

Answer to Readers Question: It has to do with a whole life policy and loans taken from that policy. Non direct recognition means that the company still pays dividends and interest based on your cash value as if no loans had been taken out of the policy. In effect, the interest rate you pay on a loan is normally a wash, because the dividends and interest credited to your account are as if there were no loans on your policy, thus any excess dividend payments (after paying the interest on the loan) would actually increase your cash value.

Direct recognition means that your cash value can be eaten away faster because any loans directly reflects on your cash value, and you are only paid dividends based on your cash value minus any loans. Unless you will not take a loan from your whole life policy (highly unlikely!!!–its your money, don’t you want to get some benefit?!?), you would be wise to purchase only from a non direct recognition carrier. A few do exist.

Hope this helps.

Readers Question: “How do you search for unclaimed insurance?”

Rio Rancho is the largest city and economic hub of Sandoval County in the U.S. state of New Mexico. It is the third-largest and fastest-growing city in New Mexico. Intel is by far the largest employer in Rio Rancho. The services, retail, and government sectors are also major components of the local economy.

Answer to Readers Question: There are a few steps that you can take in searching for unclaimed insurance. You can search bank records for any pay slips or look for any financial advisors that you might think that the deceased knew. You can speak to their friends and see if they also at the same time took out a policy. They may have liked the same sales person.

Unfortunately with out a company name there is not too much someone can do.

There is a service through the Medical Information Bureau that you can look into. It is called the Policy Locator Service. This service researches the records of the MIB for any underwriting that was submitted to any Life Insurance companies. They will search and compare the name and address of individuals that applied for Life Insurance. There records go back to 1995 only. It only shows names that applied for life insurance and does not guarantee the individual had a Life Insurance policy.

Albuquerque, New Mexico is the home to the University of new Mexico and Kirtland Air Force Base. The town was built in the traditional Spanish village pattern; a central plaza surrounded by government buildings, homes and a church. The population of the city is estimated at 504,949.

Yes Angie. There are four types of Permanent Life Insurance

Universal Life Insurance: is a type of permanent life insurance based on a cash value.

Variable Universal Life Insurance: is a type of life insurance, that builds a cash value, the cash value can be invested in a wide variety of separate accounts.

Whole Life Insurance: is a life insurance policy that remains in force for the insured persons whole life and requires premiums to be paid every year into the policy.

Variable Whole Life Insurance: premiums are generally lower in the first years of the policy and higher in later years. This is designed for persons with limited financial resources but have the promise of higher resources in later years. The total over the period of the policy would be equivalent to the straight whole life policy.
